Welcome

After being inspired by Jay and Ryanne at the Scavenger Life, I thought I'd start a blog to chronicle our eBay and Facebook selling.  Laurie and I (Tom) are a couple and enjoy the the Pickin' life.  Laurie loves furniture and home decor and I focus on collectibles.  All the furniture is sold through local Facebook sites and the collectibles are sold on eBay.  Our Facebook page is The Picking Pair and our eBay store is Minnesota Auction Outlet.  We live in southern Minnesota.

In 2014, Laurie sold over 500 furniture pieces through Facebook and I sold about 1500 items on eBay.  We started this adventure in August 2013.

  2. Way to go! Can't wait to learn how you sell on Facebook. Where do you keep it all until it sells? How do you determine prices? More, please!

    1. Hi Linda, ... in our area south of Minneapolis there are many "online garage sale sites" on Facebook. You post a set of pictures with descriptions and prices and then the "1000s" of Facebook members of those pages see it in their newsfeed. Almost immediately we get "interested" responses and we then contact them in the order received to have them come see the item and pay in cash. We have a 10' x 30' storage unit that we rent for $90/m that we keep the items at. Most items sell and are picked-up within a few weeks. Since we are on Garage Sale sites the prices need to be "low," generally under $75 so that means we have to pay buy things for about 1/4th of that. We now have a strong following and it's working great and does not really take that much time.
